  • Define your story premise with a one-sentence statement that captures its essence.

  • Identify the themes you want to explore and set the tone, whether lighthearted, dark, or mysterious.

  • Develop your characters by exploring their goals, motivations, and internal conflicts.

  • Learn about popular outline structures, such as the three-act format, the hero’s journey, and the snowflake method, to find your preferred style.

  • Brainstorm and workshop your novel’s core premise with guidance and feedback.

  • Create initial character sketches that highlight motivation and backstory.

  • Build your plot by outlining main events, conflicts, and pacing.

  • Organize scenes, refine structure, and set up a flexible outline for drafting.
